Forest Carbon Markets for the Family Forest Owner

Forests are increasingly being valued for their ability to absorb carbon dioxide from the
atmosphere, helping to combat climate change. This has created economic opportunities for
forest owners to participate in carbon market programs. Now, eligibility requirements are as
low as 30 and 40 acres of wooded property.
Depending on owner objectives, this may be an option to explore. Attendance offers an
opportunity to learn more about the concept behind carbon credits and learn about the details
involved in program participation.
Presenters:
1. Ian Crisman, DEC, Providing an overview of carbon markets and programs in NY State
2. “Family Forest Carbon Program” Emily Trent
3. “Land Yield”, representative
