American Black Bears with Thomas Tasber

On Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 1 pm, the CNY Chapter of NYFOA will have Thomas Tasber speak on American black bears at our free, open-to-the-public meeting at Cornell Cooperative Extension-Madison County, 100 Eaton Street, Morrisville, NY 13408.
Thomas Tasber works for Broome County Cooperative Extension as a naturalist and educator. He runs the popular “Lunch with Tom” educational seminars, sponsored by the Broome County Cooperative Extension.
The black bear population has been increasing and spreading across our area since the 1980’s, with sightings and encounters more frequent. Tom will examine the bear’s natural history, in addition to discussing ways to safely co-exist with this popular species.
