SOT Tree Identification Woodswalk

The woods walk will be held at Jerry Michael’s tree farm, 3192 State Route 206 in Whitney Point, NY. The property is one mile east of the village of Whitney Point and parking will be along the wide eastbound shoulder of the road. The walk will be approximately one mile in length on mostly level ground. There are 15 different hardwood and 8 conifer tree species on the property. Some of the less-common trees are Swamp White Oak, Sycamore, Tulip Poplar, American Chestnut and Cedar of Lebanon.
If you have a tree identification app, bring your phone and test your app against the real thing. Wi Fi is available from most points on the property, but not all. Bring your kids and grandkids and introduce them to a basic skill for woodlot management and enjoyment. Please call Jerry at (607) 648-2941 if you are coming so we can plan for parking, and leave a phone number we can call if we have to cancel due to severe weather (we won’t cancel for a drizzle).
